First visitors

It is really hard to find time to blog when you are having so much fun with the folks that come to visit. Travis and Tracey showed up on Thursday, June 11 with Bayard and Amelia in tow. For the next six days there was no time for the computer--we were busy taking boat rides, building fires, paddling kayaks and canoes, sailing, fishing, roasting marshmallows, cooking pizza, smoking brisket, entertaining the neighbors, swimming, and a hundred other things that made me wish I had taken more pictures.

On a sunny afternoon Travis got out his guitar. First the family entertained me with some of their favorite tunes and then they collaborated on a little song that covered the highlights of their stay.

Flathead Lake.
(To the tune of "Plastic Jesus". If you don't know that song then put "Cool Hand Luke" on the top of your netflix list. If you don't have netflix then go to your local video store and rent the movie. If that doesn't work for you then come over to my house when I am back in Beaverton and watch the movie with me. I will make popcorn.)

Bill's got a cabin on Flathead Lake
Dug through the woodpile and found a snake
Jumped off the big rock and had a swim
Water was cold and kind of brisk
Got our rods and caught a fish
We've been havin' fun on Flathead Lake.

Hopped in the speedboat and went real fast
Skipped over the waves and had a blast
Then we came back and built a fire.
Cleaned up the wood that was on the beach
Every little stick that we could reach
We've been havin' fun on Flathead Lake.

Roll-O-Roasters aim to please
Cook a perfect marshmallow easy as a breeze
Ate a bunch and wondered what was next.
Made some pizza sauce, we had to whisk it
Later in the week Bill smoked a brisket
We've been havin' fun on Flathead Lake!

The beach cleanup was quite an amazing transformation. Check out the before and after pictures in my projects album. Another big task checked off the list!

Thanks for the help and the good company!
