Lake Projects

It is now less than four weeks until my sabbatical begins!

To help focus my thoughts I am including a list of possible improvements--projects large and small to keep me busy for the first 6 or 7 weeks before the wedding.

The big goal for these projects is to make our lake place a more hospitable place for the many guests that we expect before and after the wedding.

So, in no particular order...

Parking improvements:

• Main parking area: Outline with logs, level-out with gravel. (20-30 cu. yds roadmix).
• Lower parking (east side, just above the pizza oven): Rake out level, maintain for possible tent site.
• Upper parking (east side, just below the mailbox): Grade level, add logs to define parking spots.
• Loop road: Repair ruts on westside, possibly add gravel roadmix.

Cleanup:

• Cut and stack all firewood left from tree thinning.
• Cleanup beach. Cut and stack beach wood.
• Cleanup old trash pile inside the loop road.
• Clean out under porches.
• Clean out under cabin.
• Clean out closets, cabinets.
• Clean out and reorganize tool cabinets.

Sanitation:

• Remove old outhouse.
• Rebuild with composting style outhouse.
• Build new composting bins.
• Solar shower.
• Repair water line.

Paths, Tent sites:

• Maintain tent sites, rake and level as needed.
• Repair rockery, path to dock.
• Repair stone steps to bunkhouse.
• Rebuild lower rockery between pizza oven area and beach.
• Increase accessibility of path on east side of the cabin.
• Possibly build Adirondack shelter from logs.

Pizza Oven:

• Lay paving stones in the hearth area.
• Build work tables.
• Build benches, new picnic table.
• Mow and water grass around oven.

Inside Projects:

• Clean and oil woodwork in cabin.
• Sand and oil floor in bunkhouse.
• New bed for bunkhouse.

Other Projects:

• Bird houses, bat houses.
• Remove, repair upholstery in SeaDoo.
• Weed patrol.
• Prune bushes near paths.
• Minor repairs to rowing shell.
• Sand, paint rowing shell.
• Build boat rack for canoe, kayaks.
• New paddles for canoe.
• New oarlocks for blue rowboat.
• Quick-mount for rod-holder in blue rowboat.
• Clean up driftwood in little bay.
• Build benches or chairs out of the driftwood.
• Check dock for any needed repairs.
